Digital image editing: Becomes a state-of-art?
Digital image editing is the altering of an image using computer program tools and software to produce a contrived image, often generating new meaning and view. It encompasses already existing imagery, such as photographs, films or videos, being subsequently worked on in a multitude of possible ways. This can be deemed as artwork as this process gives an esthetic output through manipulation, enhancing and transforming images. Computer softwares like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop Lightroom, Photo Plus, Ulead Photo Impact and etc, are used to accomplish the image manipulation. Recently there are other easy-type software tools available to edit images attractively namely Picassa, Picnika and ACDSee Photo Editor.
Photos are able to be edited or retouched by computer graphics to produce an end result that is so high in quality that it is almost impossible to tell if the photo has been manipulated. Currently the technology has been advanced in such a great stride that image editing can shape the every single particle of an image one can’t imagine even the very human creativity and taste has not escaped from this gift. So, the art piece produced by the image editing can be termed as human-computer integration art. The computer monitor is the canvas of the human artist and the handy softwares works like instrument to master the art. Graphics designer or image editor is the artist here!

Can I use Adobe Photoshop to edit RAW photos from a Canon G10?
I am thinking about buying a Canon G10. One of the things that makes this camera appealing to me is the option to shoot photos in RAW format. I am pretty good at Photoshop, having worked in marketing for a number of years and would like to tinker around with some photos just for the fun of it.
Can I use Photoshop CS3 or CS4 for this? Or does Canon require you to use their own proprietary software?

Best settings for artistic face portraits using Nikon d40?
my friend and are having a photoshoot today using my new nikon d40 for the first time. its a long-standing tradition where she does my makeup and takes photos of my face. i bought my camera used, so it didn’t come with the software or book manual(though i downloaded onto my computer) and so i don’t know exactly know how to set good settings for artistic photos. i heard that for these kind of pictures, they’re best taken in RAW, but im not entirely sure what that is or how to set that on my d40…
I’m using Gimp/Aviary/Photoshop Express for editing (whichever works the best for me) and so i want to make sure i can edit these pictures or add stuff to them. Any help?

P.S Which is best to use? The kit 18-55mm or the 55-200mm?
Can you send RAW through e-mail? Or if not, can you shoot in RAW, edit, convert then send?
As far as getting a good shot ‘in camera”, use aperture priority and select the largest aperture you can. For your 18-55mm lens, that might be F3.5 or up to F5.6, depending on how much you have your lens zoomed in.
A large aperture will throw the background out of focus, making you the center of attention in the photo.
RAW is great for people photos, as there is usually a little cleanup of the shot that can be done: blemishes, stray hairs, circles under the eyes. You need a photo editer to do this – I’m not sure if Gimp et al can work with RAW files. If they can, you edit the RAW file and can save as a JPG to send out via email. RAW is more work than shooting JPG directly, but it does give you some flexibility.
